Frequently asked questions
The product
Does it work with the lights on?
Not really. It is an atmosphere lamp, so it needs a dark or dim room. With the main light on you will barely see the projection. In the dark it covers roughly 2 to 4 square metres of ceiling, depending on how far away you place it.
Can I watch films or photos on it?
No. There is no video, no HDMI, no app and no streaming. It projects five still scene discs, and that is deliberate: a still sky calms a child down, a moving picture is just another screen.
How big is the projection?
Roughly 2 to 4 square metres from 1 to 2.5 metres away. Further away means bigger and softer, closer means smaller and sharper.
Is it noisy?
No. Nothing rotates and there is no fan. Some star projectors use a motor to spin the image, which is exactly the whirring noise you do not want next to a sleeping child.
Does it turn itself off?
There is no built-in timer. It stays on until you switch it off. If you want it to go off by itself, a cheap mains timer plug from any hardware shop does the job.
Can I use it in a room without a socket nearby?
Yes. It runs from any USB-C source, including a power bank, which also makes it work for tents, hotel rooms and long car journeys.
Safety
Is it safe for a child's room?
It is LED, not laser, so there is no laser class to think about. It runs on 5V USB-C, the head does not get warm, and there is no glass to break. As with any lamp, nobody should stare directly into the lens.
What age is it suitable for?
It is a lamp, not a toy. The scene discs are small, so we do not recommend it inside a cot or within reach of a child under three. From about three upwards, on a shelf or nightstand and with an adult setting it up, it is fine.
Will the light keep them awake?
Cool white and blue light suppress melatonin far more than warm light does. That is why the Halo has a separate warm amber mode: use the projection during the wind-down, then switch to amber on its lowest setting for the rest of the night.
Ordering
How long does delivery take?
Orders placed before 2pm on a working day go out the same day. UK delivery normally takes 2 to 4 working days and is free on every order. A tracking link arrives by email when it ships.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Not yet. We ship within the United Kingdom only.
Why is it more expensive than a marketplace listing?
Partly the box: five discs in a wallet, a 2 metre USB-C cable and a UK plug, which the cheap versions usually leave out. Partly what happens afterwards: a two-year guarantee, free UK returns for sixty nights, and an email address a person reads. If none of that matters to you, buy the cheaper one, honestly.
Can I buy extra scene discs?
Yes. The Scene Pack adds Northern Lights, Deep Sea, Nebula, Moon Surface and Rainforest, and it fits every Lunaro Halo. Add it to your order and it ships in the same box.
Can you send it as a gift?
Yes. Add the gift box at checkout and we pack it in a navy box with a ribbon and write your message on a card by hand. There are never prices in the parcel.
After you order
What if we do not get on with it?
Email us within sixty nights and we refund you. We pay the return postage within the UK and we do not need the packaging to be perfect. This is on top of your statutory 14-day right to cancel.
What does the guarantee cover?
Two years from delivery. If it stops working through no fault of yours, we replace it. It does not cover damage from drops, water or taking it apart.
Something is missing from my parcel.
Email hello@lunarohome.co.uk with your order number and we will send the missing part out the same day.
