Honest facts

Every listing for this kind of lamp shows a ceiling drenched in colour, edge to edge, in a room that is somehow still fully lit. That is not what you get. Not from us, and not from anyone else selling one.

So here is everything we would want to know before spending forty pounds on a light.

What it does well

  • In a dark room it projects a soft, detailed scene across roughly 2 to 4 square metres of ceiling.
  • The warm amber mode is genuinely dim enough to sleep next to, and bright enough to find the door.
  • It is silent. No motor, no fan, no clicking.
  • Swapping a disc takes about five seconds, which matters more than you would think when a four year old wants to choose.

What it does not do

  • It will not fill a lit room. Lights on, you will barely see it. This is the single biggest reason people are disappointed by projectors like this one.
  • It will not show video or photos. No HDMI, no app, no streaming. Five still discs.
  • It has no timer and no remote. A mains timer plug solves the first one for about six pounds.
  • It is not a reading light. It is a lamp for falling asleep by.
  • The edges of the image are softer than the middle. That is how a single-lens projector works, at any price.

Materials, plainly

The housing is matte ABS plastic and the arm is a flexible metal gooseneck in a plastic sleeve. It is light, which is why it survives being knocked off a shelf. It does not feel like a two hundred pound designer lamp, and we are not going to describe it as though it does.

Safety

  • LED light source. There is no laser in it, so there is no laser class to worry about.
  • 5V USB-C power. Low voltage, and the head does not get hot.
  • Contains small parts. Not suitable inside a cot or for unsupervised children under three.
  • Indoor use only. Keep the cable out of reach of a small child.
  • As with any lamp: do not look straight into the lens.

Why we put this page on our own website

Because the alternative is a refund and a one-star review in three weeks' time. We would rather sell to a hundred people who know exactly what is coming than to a hundred and thirty who do not.
